Fields: Add/Edit Reserve Source

Specifies the name and web service used for the Academic Reserves search source. The reserve source lets you include Academic Reserve fields as a means of searching for titles in Portfolio.

Federated Configuration > Add Source > Reserve

Name

Specifies the system name of the Reserve search source (up to 80 characters). This system name is used to identify the search source on the Federated Search Sources page and on any other pages in the Admin console that display the search source name.

For this field, you can also specify an alternate name for a specific language. The name that you specify will appear when the Admin console is displayed in that language. Choose the language from the drop-down list of supported languages, then enter the localized name in the field.

Note: If your web browser is configured to use a display language that is not supported by Portfolio and you have chosen to display the Admin console in a language other than the default language (en_US), the language that displays in the drop-down list of supported languages defaults to US English.

If a localized name already exists for a specific language, the software displays that language name differently in the drop-down list. When you enter a localized name for a specific language, the language name appears with a “++” suffix. If you clear the localized name for a specific language, the software displays the language name without this formatting.

Description

Specifies a text description of this Reserve search source (up to 80 characters). This description is displayed on the Federated Search Sources page.

Web Service

Specifies the web service connection to use to connect to Symphony.

Note: You must be running Symphony Web Services version 3.3 or higher to support Academic Reserves. To include Reserve Desk and Course Name fields in the search results and detail displays, you must be running Symphony Web Services version 3.4 or higher.
